OINP To Introduce An Expression Of Interest System In 2021

OINP to introduce an Expression of Interest System in 2021

On March 15, 2021, the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development introduced an Expression of Interest system for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) moving forward.

The Expression of Interest system will be a points-based registration system, which will assist in electing skilled economic immigrants to meet Ontario’s labour market needs. The Expression of Interest system will apply to the following OINP streams:

• Employer Job Offer Category streams (Foreign Worker, International Student, and In-Demand Skills)

• Masters Graduate stream

• Ph.D. Graduate stream

While these streams are currently closed to new applicants, they will open for new applicants when the Expression of Interest system launches in the next few weeks.

About the Process:

You must first register an expression of interest to apply to the OINP. When registering it is important to note that you are NOT applying to the OINP or putting forth an application for permanent residence. You can ONLY apply to the OINP under the Expression of Interest-based stream if and once you are invited to apply.

The goal of this new system is to:

• Strategically manage the intake of applications under OINP

• Increase OINP’s labour market responsiveness

• Better respond to regional labour market needs in Ontario
